The ISO 10007 standard (Quality Management Systems – Guidelines for Configuration Management) has been developed in order to increase the common understanding of the issue of configuration management and to promote its use, as well as to help organizations improve performance through the use of this management system.
Configuration management is a management activity that uses technical and administrative guidelines throughout the life cycle of a product, its configuration items, and information related to product configuration.

Configuration management codifies the product configuration and enables identification and tracking of the achievement of physical and functional requirements and access to the correct information at all stages of the product life cycle.
Configuration management can be implemented based on the size of the organization and the complexity and nature of the product.
